Stolen Ruby Slipper Reward Up To $250K

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Five years after someone broke into the Judy Garland Museum in Grand Rapids and stole the famous ruby slippers from the film Wizard of Oz, the reward for information leading to the thieves and slippers has grown to $250,000.
Museum executive director John Kelsch says investigators have various theories about who took the slippers and why.
Ideas range from pranksters to thieves who soon realized the slippers are so famous it would be nearly impossible to fence them.
Kelsch believes two or more people were involved and hopes the increased reward will prompt someone in the know to tip investigators.
He also says security at the Garland museum has increased since the 2005 theft.
The museum also features the carriage used to transport Dorothy and her friends in the land of Oz.
