Stillwater Lift Bridge Closing For Repairs In September
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Motorists who use the Stillwater Lift Bridge on a daily basis will need to find an alternate route starting in early September.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation said Thursday the lift bridge will close on Sept. 10 to vehicle, bike and pedestrian traffic and won't be back open until late December. The lift bridge will only be available on Sundays from Oct. 15 to Nov. 5.
Crews starting repairing the bridge on July 9 under the driving surface, and now work is starting above. Crews will be working to repair steel connections, replacing and repairing mechanical and electrical components, repairing concrete, floor beams and painting portions of the bridge.
Motorists are advised to use Interstate 94 to get to Hudson, Wis., or Highway 243 at Osceloa, Wis.
