Stefon Diggs Named NFC Offensive POTW For Performance Against Packers
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Minnesota Vikings' wide receiver Stefon Diggs' monster performance against division-rival Green Bay Packers did not go unnoticed.
On Wednesday, the team announced Diggs has been named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week. In the Vikings' Week 2 victory over the Packers, Diggs led the NFL with 182 receiving yards on nine receptions – both career highs.
The second-year wideout currently leads the NFL overall this season with 285 receiving yards on 16 catches. That makes him just the third Viking with back-to-back 100-yard receiving games in the first two weeks of the regular season – and the first since Cris Carter in 1997.
In the team's history, Randy Moss is the only wide receiver to post more receiving yards – 190 – against the Packers. That was on Oct. 5, 1998.
Diggs is the ninth different Viking to earn the NFC Player of the Week honor under head coach Mike Zimmer.
Diggs was selected in the fifth-round of the 2015 NFL Draft. He was the 20th wide receiver selected that year.
