State Trooper Hit While Assisting Vehicle In Goodhue County
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A Minnesota State Patrol officer was transported St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester with non-life threatening injuries Tuesday morning after being involved in a crash while assisting a vehicle in a ditch, authorities say.
The Minnesota State Patrol said an officer was assisting a car in the ditch at about 8:19 a.m. when the accident happened on Highway 52 near Goodhue County Road 9 just south of Cannon Falls.
Authorities say a State Patrol squad car was parked partially on the left shoulder and in the left lane assisting a tow company with a car in the ditch. A 2001 Audi A6 lost control, slid sideways and hit the State Patrol car.
The State Patrol says highway conditions were icy at the time, and it serves as a reminder for motorists to slow down and pay attention to driving when conditions aren't optimal. There were two other crashes where squad cars were hit on Monday.
