State Patrol: Pedestrian Hit, Killed By Car In Maplewood
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A female pedestrian was hit and killed by a car while crossing Highway 120 in Maplewood Tuesday night, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
Maplewood Police and the Ramsey County Sheriff's Office responded to the incident at about 5:45 p.m. Tuesday near the area of Highway 120 and 10th Street N. When authorities arrived, they learned a 78-year-old woman driving a 2011 Ford Escape was headed northbound on Highway 120 just north of 10th Street.
The woman was driving about 20 to 25 miles per hour when two pedestrians who were walking southbound on the right shoulder crossed Highway 120. The pedestrians were not in a crosswalk when they crossed the busy road, and a female pedestrian was hit by the SUV. The driver was not hurt in the crash.
The victim was identified Tuesday as 45-year-old Laura A. Elfstrium of Oakdale.
The accident is still under investigation.
