State Patrol Investigating Fatal Crash In Minnetonka
MINNETONKA, Minn. (WCCO) – At least one person was killed Tuesday morning in a crash involving four vehicles in Minnetonka, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
Authorities responded to the crash at about 7:42 a.m. Tuesday on Highway 7 at County Road 101. When they got to the scene, a 2000 Ford Super Duty was stopped at a red light on northbound Highway 101 and a another vehicle was in the far right lane of westbound Highway 7 with a green light.
The Ford Super Duty went through the intersection and broadsided the vehicle, causing it to spin out and hit a 2011 Nissan Juke that was stopped at a red light on southbound Highway 101. The Juke was then pushed into a 2008 Toyota Highlander.
The Minnesota State Patrol has not released information on fatalities in the crash.
A 46-year-old Deephaven woman who was driving the Juke, identified as Jill Benninghofen, was not hurt. The 47-year-old Plymouth woman driving the Highlander, identified as Maria Enrique, was not hurt.
The passenger of the Super Duty, identified as 49-year-old Darvin Basche of Apple Valley, also suffered no apparent injury.
Authorities said the accident is still under investigation.
