State Patrol: Driver Extremely Drunk In July Fatal Crash Near Duluth
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Authorities say a north shore native had a blood alcohol content five times the legal limit for driving when he caused a fatal crash earlier this summer.
The Minnesota State Patrol says on July 11, 63-year-old Phillip Bergerson had a blood alcohol content of .41 when he drove the wrong way down Highway 61, smashing into another car and killing both drivers.
The crash killed the driver of that car, 20-year-old Cole Drechsler, about 20 miles northeast of Duluth. Drechsler was a student at the College of St. Scholastica.
Bergerson is a former Minnesota Power Employee from Two Harbors.
