State Patrol Dispatcher Succumbs To Cancer
HAMPTON, Minn. (WCCO) -- A State Patrol dispatcher profiled by WCCO earlier this year has died following a battle with a rare form of stomach cancer.
Jesse Brewington, of Hampton, Minn., died Tuesday afternoon, according a post from his fiancée on his CaringBridge site. He was 34 years old.
Brewington was the lead manager of the Roseville-based State Patrol 911 Center. Last summer, doctors diagnosed Brewington with gastric carcinomatosis, which they said was incurable.
Brewington and his fiancée, Karlyn Smith, planned on getting married on July 30. The day was special to them because it was the seventh anniversary of their first date.
"I hated to find out this way, but I know for sure that Karlyn is my soul mate -- the perfect person for me. I know that beyond a doubt now," said Brewington, when Lindsey Seavert profiled the couple back in April.
Unfortunately, Brewington's condition had deteriorated to such an extent that they had to cancel the wedding ceremony. However, they quietly and secretly married in their home back in May.
Smith said arrangements are being made for a Friday wake and Saturday funeral.
