State Patrol Day At The Minnesota State Fair

FALCON HEIGHTS, Minn. (WCCO) – It's Minnesota State Patrol Day at the Minnesota State Fair, which means that several troopers are at the fair.

That included Lt. Eric Roeske, who stopped by WCCO 4 News at Noon to talk about all the initiatives surrounding the day. The State Patrol brought in some of their latest equipment hot off the assembly line.

It includes new squad cars for patrol officers which are also safer, the State Patrol helicopter and old-time squad cars. One of the most popular attractions is a device they use to deter drunk driving.

Officers have a set of goggles specifically designed to show the symptoms of someone trying to drive who has had too much to drink. WCCO-TV's Mike Binkley tried them in a demonstration, and took four wobbly steps before giving up and taking them off.

It's just one of several exhibits for Minnesota State Patrol Day at the fair.
