State Patrol: 300+ Crashes, 100+ Spinouts Monday
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) - Traffic was slow going Monday afternoon in many parts of the metro due to snow and icy conditions.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, there were more than 300 crashes statewide since 9 a.m., and more than 100 vehicle spinouts and cars in ditches.
Shelly Walstrom ended up off the road on Highway 36 near Rice Street in Roseville.
She says she waited an hour for help.
"I obviously must have hit something slippery. I tried and just started swerving," Walstrom said. "Enough snow is coming down that it's making it really slippery."
Lt. Eric Roeske with the State Patrol says many drivers were going too fast for the conditions, likely because they thought the light snow didn't pose much of a threat.
