State Patrol: 1 Killed After Car Plunges Over Bloomington Ferry Bridge
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – One person was found dead Friday morning after a car went off the road on Highway 169 and plunged over the Bloomington Ferry Bridge, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
Authorities responded to the crash Friday morning on Highway 169 near 101 in Shakopee. When officers arrived, they learned a 2003 Buick LeSabre was traveling southbound on Highway 169 when it lost control because of slippery road conditions, went over a guard rail and landed on its roof.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. According to WCCO Radio's Adam Carter, the driver was trying to exit onto southbound Highway 101 when it lost control and plunged 80 to 100 feet over the Bloomington Ferry Bridge.
Authorities haven't identified the victim yet, but a hunter discovered the driver and the car Friday morning. The State Patrol said there were no witnesses to the crash, which was believed to have happened sometime overnight but was reported at about 8:25 a.m. Friday.
Shakopee Police and the Scott County Sheriff's Office are assisting the State Patrol with the crash investigation.
