Stanley Cup To Visit Inver Grove Heights
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Twin Cities hockey fans have a rare opportunity Wednesday to get up-close-and-personal with the Stanley Cup.
The trophy will be on display Wednesday night in Inver Grove Heights, thanks to Scott Bell. The former Gopher men's hockey player, who played prep hockey at Simley High School, is a scout for the Stanley Cup-winning Pittsburgh Penguins, and he is allowed to have the cup for a day.
Inver Grove Heights Park and Recreation Director Eric Carlson says they are excited to have the treasure on display.
"I think our community is really looking forward to being able to look at it, take a close-up picture of it and just congratulate Scott for his contributions to the Pittsburgh Penguins' Stanley Cup championship this past June," Carlson said.
He says the cup will be on display from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Community Center at 8055 Barbara Ave. E.
