St. Thomas Finds Buyer For Conference Center
OWATONNA, Minn. (AP) -- The University of St. Thomas has found a buyer for the Daniel C. Gainey Conference Center in Owatonna.
The school announced Thursday that Meridian Behavioral Health LLC has signed a purchase agreement to acquire the center. The purchase price was not disclosed.
New Brighton-based Meridian plans to use the center as a supervised living facility providing counseling and treatment services to people suffering from addictive diseases or behavioral disorders.
Officials say the timing of the sale has not been determined but could happen by this fall. The university will continue operating the center for now.
The sale would include all 180 acres and all of the buildings except for the Winton Guest House, designed by renowned architect Frank Gehry.
St. Thomas decided in February to sell the financially struggling center.
