St. Thomas Basketball Teams Start D3 Tournaments
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — The St. Thomas men's basketball team starts the NCAA Division III tournament this weekend with a first-round game against Aurora University.
The Tommies host their opponent from Illinois Saturday. They're the top-ranked team in the latest national poll with a 26-1 record, seeking their second championship in three years.
Another Twin Cities men's team made the Division III tournament. Northwestern of Roseville plays at Wisconsin-Stevens Point Saturday.
The St. Thomas women's basketball team also qualified for the NCAA Division III tournament. The Tommies were paired with Calvin College of Michigan in a first-round game in Mount Vernon, Iowa Friday. St. Scholastica of Duluth is in the same bracket, facing host Cornell College.
Another MIAC women's team, Concordia of Moorhead, plays Wisconsin-Stevens Point in a first-round game in Indianola, Iowa.
