St. Paul Vulcan Krewe Accused Of Hit-And-Run

ST. PAUL (WCCO) -- The St. Paul Police Department is investigating a hit-and-run crash that they believe involved the older model fire truck of the St. Paul Vulcan Krewe.

The traffic and accident unit said the crash happened around 9:30 p.m. Saturday, behind Eagle Street Grille, 147 W. 7th St.

Authorities say a witness saw the driver of older fire truck back out of an alley, hit a parked car and then drive off.

The witness said he thought the truck might be one of the St. Paul Vulcan Krewe.

The restaurant owner told police he saw the truck back into the retaining wall and asked the driver to stop and provide insurance information. He said the driver refused and drove off.

The truck was found behind Alary's Bar, 137 E. 7th St., but no one was found inside.

On Monday, police spoke to the fire truck's registered owner who said he was unaware he hit a parked car and a retaining wall. He said he also had no recollection of someone asking him to stop.

St. Paul Police have turned the case over to the city attorney for possible charges.
