St. Paul To Begin Tackling 11 Of The 'Terrible 20' Roads
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- St. Paul officials are laying out their plan to fix about half of the city's "Terrible 20" roads.
Eleven roads will undergo maintenance beginning the week of Sept. 8, and the work is expected to run until mid-October.
Crews will repair roads using the mill-and-overlay technique, where the top layer of the street is removed and replaced with new pavement.
Officials say the process can usually take up to three days to complete for a single street -- depending on traffic, road width and weather.
Road Work Beginning Sept. 8
Fairview Avenue: Shields to Summit.
Grand Avenue: 35E to 7th Street.
Hamline Avenue: Portland to Grand.
Hamline Avenue: St. Clair to Randolph.
Hamline Avenue: University to Selby.
Johnson Parkway: Minnehaha to I94.
Lafayette Road: 7th to Grove.
Rice Street and 12th: University to Wabasha/St. Peter.
Wabasha Street: 6th to 7th.
Road Work Beginning Sept. 22
11th Street: St. Peter to Jackson.
Cretin Avenue: I94 to Marshall.
Cretin Avenue: Summit to Ford Parkway.
Eustis Street: 280 off ramp to I94 on ramp, including Franklin.
Parking restriction signs will be posted on streets 24 hours before work begins.
