St. Paul Offering Prizes For Visitors Who Take To Twitter
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The city of St. Paul is buzzing as it prepares to host the state's top athletes and their parents for the annual Minnesota State High School League tournaments. But that's not the only big event coming up on the east side of the river.
The events calendar is packed for March. There's a new space exhibit at the Science Museum of Minnesota, many concerts at Xcel Energy Center and the Ordway, as well as several big exhibits coming to St. Paul RiverCentre, including the Home and Patio Show and Twin Cities Bridal Show and, of course, the biggest party of all: St. Patrick's Day.
"We estimate tens of millions of dollars coming into the city," said Adam Johnson, vice president of marketing for Visit St. Paul. "Whether it's to pay for tickets or paying for parking, or for overnights in hotels, there are all kinds of opportunities for people to come in and enjoy their time here."
Since so many people will be around town for various events, the city is urging people to share their experience on Twitter with the hashtag #MySaintPaul.
Starting March 1, Visit St. Paul will give away more than $5,000 worth of prizes to people who use the hashtag throughout the month. Prizes include Wild or concert tickets, restaurant gift certificates and even hotel stays.
