St. Paul Man Gets 5 Years For Sex Assault On Bus
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- A St. Paul man has been sentenced to five years in prison after admitting he sexually assaulted a woman with Down syndrome on a city bus.
Twenty-two-year-old Herbert Lee House III pleaded guilty in Ramsey County to third-degree criminal sexual conduct
The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports the judge rejected a request by House's attorney for a lighter sentence Wednesday.
According to the complaint, House sat next to the 19-year-old victim on the bus on Feb. 22 and got her to perform a sex act on him. Prosecutors say he then tried to get the woman to leave the bus with him, but the woman's care attendant got her to remain on the bus.
Metro Transit Police used security camera video from the bus to find and arrest House.
