St. Paul Man Dies In Western Wis. Crash; Icy Road A Factor
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 61-year-old St. Paul man is dead and two others are injured after a crash in western Wisconsin early Monday morning, according to the St. Croix County Sheriff's Office.
Authorities say a 1993 Toyota Camry, driven by Yeng Yang, was northbound on County Truck Highway A, north of Richmond Township. Meanwhile, a 2010 Chevrolet Impala, driven by 31-year-old Kelly Wilcox of Maple, was southbound on CTH A.
Then, according to scene evidence, Yang lost control on the roadway while attempting to negotiate a curve. The car went sideways in the roadway and into the southbound lane of traffic where it was struck by Wilcox in the passenger side.
Yang was pronounced dead at the scene by the St. Croix County Medical Examiner's Office.
Wilcox was transported to a New Richmond hospital with unknown injuries. A passenger in Wilcox's car, 35-year-old Allen Matheus of St. Paul, was taken to Regions Hospital in St. Paul with unknown injuries.
Authorities say icy road conditions appear to be factor in the crash.
All three victims were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
The crash remains under investigation by the Sheriff's Office.
