St. Paul Man Acquitted Of Murder Charges Against Police Officers
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 41-year-old West St. Paul man accused of shooting at two police officers after a fight at his home in March of 2012 was acquitted of murder charges, but was found guilty of felony assault charges, Dakota County Attorney James Backstrom announced Wednesday.
Justin Thadeus Amick was acquitted of two counts of first-degree attempted murder (intent to kill a peace officer), two counts of second-degree attempted murder, as well as one count of first-degree assault and second-degree assault on a second police officer.
Amick was found guilty on one count of first-degree assault, second-degree assault, and ineligible person in possession of a firearm, all felonies.
Judge Michael Mayer ordered a pre-sentence investigation and set the sentencing date for 9 a.m. on Sept. 12, 2013 in Hastings.
Amick remains in custody.
