St. Paul Forestry Crews Finish Tree Cleanup, Shift Focus To Parks
ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) - St. Paul's forestry crews have completed their cleanup effort just three and a half weeks after storms knocked down hundreds of trees in the city.
According to city officials, the storms on June 21-22 contributed to the fall and/or damage of more than 500 public trees and numerous private ones.
Mayor Chris Coleman applauded city crews for their arduous work.
"This was the type of storm that we haven't seen in the city in many years, and thanks to the quick and thorough response, our streets are clear and our neighborhoods are nearly debris-free," Coleman said.
Forestry crews will now shift their focus to removing damaged trees in city parks and tipped-up tree stumps throughout the city.
St. Paul residents can continue to bring private tree debris to any Ramsey County Yard waste site. Officials urge residents with this type of debris to remove it from boulevards as soon as possible for safety's sake.
