Suspect in custody after fatal stabbing in St. Paul
ST. PAUL, Minn. — A man is dead after a stabbing in St. Paul on Sunday.
Officers were called to an apartment complex on the 300 block of Dale Street North around 6:15 p.m., according to the St. Paul Police Department. They found a man who had been stabbed in the torso lying in the hallway. He was unconscious and barely breathing, police said.
The man was taken to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Police said the suspect — a 64-year-old man — was still in the building and was taken into custody. Police believe they knew each other.
"Preliminary information would indicate that there was some sort of altercation that happened when this assault occurred," Sgt. Mike Ernster with St, Paul police said. "They both live in the building and homicide investigators are going to be combing through the facts of this case and try to determine those little pieces of what caused the altercation and what led to this assault which cost this man his life."
This marks St. Paul's 25th homicide of the year, slightly down from this time last year when there were 28.
