Skimmers Get Thousands From St. Paul ATM Customers

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Police say two men rigged bank ATMs to scam at least 100 people out of thousands of dollars.

The scam was reported at Bremer Bank and Topline Credit Union in St. Paul, according to police.

The ATM's cameras captured the suspects putting a skimmer on the machine along with a small remote camera earlier this summer.

The skimmers then copied information off the customer's cards as the camera recorded the victim punching in their PIN number.

Police have released photos of the suspected scammers.

They also offered tips for things you can do to protect yourself. First, grab your ATM's card reader and wiggle it to make sure it's secure. Next, when typing in your PIN, use your other hand to cover the keypad so a camera can't see what you type in.

If you notice any fraudulent activity, contact your bank immediately.
