St. Cloud Troops Headed To Afghanistan
ST. CLOUD, Minn. (WCCO) -- As the war in Afghanistan continues, so does the deployment of local troops to help the cause.
A group of soldiers with the Minnesota National Guard leave Sunday. They are with the C-Company, 171st General Support Aviation Brigade out of St. Cloud. The group will help with medical evacuations.
The company's motto is "Heaven Can Wait." One soldier who spoke with WCCO said the deployments are much harder on the families back home than they are on troops.
"It's tough being away from family and friends but you know it's part of the job and we're glad to do it," said Sgt. Neil Scott.
The soldiers leave Sunday to support "Operation Enduring Freedom." They'll be gone one year.
