St. Cloud St. Beats North Dakota 4-0
GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) -- Freshman goalie Ryan Faragher made 44 saves to lead St. Cloud State to a 4-0 shutout of North Dakota Friday in Western Collegiate Hockey Association debut.
Faragher made 39 saves in the first two periods and took a 1-0 lead into the third period. He had 24 stops in the second in just his second college start.
Faragher helped the Huskies withstand the loss of two players to game misconduct penalties.
Jared Festler scored the first goal for the Huskies (3-3-1, 1-0-0) at 7:16 of the first.
Andrew Prochno made it 2-0 early in the third period and Sam Zabkowicz beat Aaron Dell at 9:23.
Dell turned away 19 shots North Dakota, which outshot St. Cloud State 44-23.
The Fighting Sioux (2-4-1, 0-3-0) have lost their first three conference games for the first time since 1989.
