St. Cloud Police: Woman Stabs Man After Being Punched In The Face; Both Arrested
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- St. Cloud police say two people have been arrested in a domestic assault incident Saturday evening.
According to police, officers responded at 9:58 p.m. Saturday to a domestic in progress at a residence on the 700 block of 8th Avenue South.
When officers arrived, they found a man -- later identified as 42-year-old Edward Charles Lawler of St. Cloud – who had suffered a stab wound to his leg. He was taken to the hospital for the potentially life-threatening wound.
Inside the residence, officers found 35-year-old Angela Joy Johnston of St. Cloud.
Police say an investigation determined that Johnston stabbed Lawler after he punched her in the face, which caused visible injuries. Lawler also abused their dogs in the incident, police say.
After treatment for her injuries, Johnston was taken to the Stearns County Jail to be held for court on charges of first-degree felony assault.
Lawler was stabilized at St. Cloud Hospital and was also arrested. Due to his past criminal history, police say he is also charged with a felony assault.
Lawler remains at the St. Cloud Hospital under guard and is expected to be taken to the Stearns County Jail to be held for court later on Monday.
