Speculation Turns To Wikipedia For Romney's VP
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney still hasn't announced his pick for Vice President, but the clues may be on Wikipedia.
The web site that calls itself a "free encyclopedia," open to anyone to edit, has now locked the pages of several Republicans being mentioned as possible running mates. That includes the page for former Minnesota governor Tim Pawlenty.
Here's the likely culprit: Comedian Stephen Colbert. He tinkered around on Pawlenty's page during his show, "The Colbert Report," Tuesday night.
He wrote that Pawlenty was the "son of Mrs. Butterworth" and that he "started his career in Santa's workshop," among other things.
Colbert then wrote "On August 10th, 2012, Tim Pawlenty was named Mitt Romney's running mate."
As Romney gets closer to naming his Vice President, speculation about who it will be has turned to Wikipedia to see how many times their pages have been edited, a likely sign that they're preparing their page for the announcement.
