'Sparky' Pick For Week 7: Elk River Over Rogers
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – It's take four for "Sparky the Sea Lion," our beloved high school football prognosticator from the Como Zoo.
Sparky has had a rough month with three predictions and three losses. Tonight, it becomes about one game and an opportunity for some late-season redemption.
As the cool fall air is moving in, Sparky's enthusiasm has not waned. It's just not in her DNA.
After Shakopee won on the road against Holy Angels last Friday, Sparky fell to 0-3 in predictions. The last thing she wants to do is join the Vikings at an 0-4 start.
Sparky gets one of the big games in the metro area Friday as unbeaten Rogers, the No. 4-ranked team in Class 4A, travels to 5-1 Elk River with the Mississippi Eight Conference title on the line. Sparky had to take into consideration that Elk River came virtually out of nowhere, and Rogers is always strong.
But Sparky made a bold decision and went with the upset. Yes, she picked Elk River to pull the upset over Rogers. We'll know after High School Sports Rally Friday night if she made the right choice.
