South St. Paul Officer Pleads Guilty To DWI
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A South St. Paul police officer has pleaded guilty to DWI and careless driving.
Sergeant Cory Slifko was arrested back in June. He was off-duty and driving his personal vehicle at the time. Rosemount Police caught him after getting a 911 call that someone was driving around damaging mailboxes.
Authorities said It took some time to make the arrest, because police say Slifko tried driving away at first. At the time of the arrest, Slifko, a Farmington resident, had served as a South. St. Paul police officer for 13 years and had recently been promoted to sergeant.
He's scheduled to be sentenced on Friday, and at sentencing, a more serious felony charge of fleeing police is expected to be dismissed.
