South Georgia Hospital Joins Mayo Clinic System
WAYCROSS, Ga. (AP) — The Mayo Clinic in Florida has joined a south Georgia health system, which will become part of the Minnesota-based health care organization.
The Mayo Clinic said in a statement that Satilla Regional Medical Center in Waycross will be renamed Mayo Clinic Health System in Waycross.
Mayo executives say the new name and partnership comes as Mayo integrates with the south Georgia facility's parent firm, Satilla Health Services Inc.
Mayo officials said its board, Satilla's board and the Georgia Attorney General have approved the integration.
Dr. Kenneth Calamia, a Mayo Clinic physician, has been named chief executive officer of Mayo Clinic Health System in Waycross. Satilla President and CEO Robert Trimm becomes chief administrative officer.
Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo has a large campus in Jacksonville, Fla., about 75 miles southeast of Waycross.
