Softball Team Buys New Equipment With Anonymous Donation
ST. LOUIS PARK, Minn. (WCCO) – Members of the St. Louis Park girls fast pitch softball program are now a little happier after getting a donation towards new playing gear.
The team's coach, Franco Romero, said he took the equipment home recently after a rainy day and left it sitting in his car near his home. Thieves then broke into his car and stole $1,000 worth of bats, balls and training gear. The team consists of girls ages 10 to 12 years old.
Team officials said they didn't have enough money in their budget to buy new equipment, but after seeing the original story on WCCO-TV, somebody donated the necessary amount to the team. That person has wished to remain anonymous.
Without the donation, the team, which is in the middle of its season, likely wouldn't have been able to continue playing because of the lack of equipment.
