Snow Emergencies Lead To Busy Impound Lots

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Several residents of Minneapolis and St. Paul woke up Thursday with a big headache on their hands after their car got towed.

Snow emergencies went into effect Wednesday night after our first winter storm dumped several inches of snow across much of the Twin Cities.  Plows were busy clearing roads, which meant if your car was parked on the street and in the way, it likely got towed.

To make matters more complicated, each city has their own system for ticketing and towing cars during a snow emergency. In Minneapolis, it's a three-day system. In St. Paul, plows are out clearing the night plow routes until 8 a.m. the following day and the day routes start their clearing process at 8 a.m.
