Snow Causes Roof Collapse At Ramsey Business
RAMSEY, Minn. (WCCO) -- The accumulation of heavy snow caused the roof of a Ramsey business to collapse early Friday afternoon.
According to an employee, workers saw the roof of Pro Power Sports & Marine begin to sag, and then they heard rivets pop.
"It came down and blew me right off my feet," said Randy Blomlie, an employee.
He landed on his face, surrounded by shards of glass with "natural gas all over the place."
The roof toppled on an estimated $100,000 of new merchandise -- snowmobiles, motorcycles and other products and equipment.
"The garage doors blew out," another employee said. "It was pretty loud."
No one was hurt.
Emergency crews were called prior to the collapse, employees say, but they didn't arrive until the roof gave way.
The Ramsey Fire Chief said firefighter turned off the natural gas line as soon as they arrived on the scene.
