Skeletal Remains Found In Iron Range ID'd, Cause Of Death Still Unknown
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The St. Louis County Medical Examiner's Office identified the skeletal remains of a 56-year-old man whose body was found on the Iron Range in early May.
Barnabas R. Kalina Jr.'s cause of death is still unknown, and there were no signs of trauma on his skeleton. The medical examiner identified Kalina through dental records.
Kalina was found, the sheriff's officials said, on the 6900 block of Old Highway 135 in McKinley, which is some 65 miles north of Duluth.
According to the Pioneer Press, Kalina's body had been at the site, an old iron mine dump, since the fall of 2011. He was a former New Yorker and was never reported missing.
