Sister Of Man Killed By Memorial Day Homicide Victim: 'He Got What Was Coming To Him'
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Larry Davis Sr. was shot to death on 3rd Street in north Minneapolis on Memorial Day. Fourteen people witnessed the crime, the youngest of whom was 11.
Two other men were also shot. Police won't say how it happened, but they say all the victims knew each other.
WCCO found out a family who isn't related to Davis is also taking his death quite personally.
Davis was convicted and spent time in prison for the 2001 murder of Angelica Timberlake's brother, Patrick Timberlake.
"I just feel like he got what he had coming to him, he got what he deserved," Angelica said. "When someone takes someone's life from you, that's something you never get back, that feeling never goes away."
Patrick was a husband, father and stepfather. Angelica says Davis was also a father and fiancé.
"Just like they lost somebody that they feel was a loved one to them, we felt the same way 14 years ago," she said.
Davis was released from prison in December.
"All I know is he was a good man, a good nephew I had, you know," L.B. Brown, Davis' uncle, said. "Just trying to change his life around."
He had become active with Urban Ventures, and was taking fathering classes. He had been in class just a few weeks ago.
Angelica says her family had seen him around.
"It's been a couple people in his family that extended apologies, but it's not the same," Angelica said. "He's never apologized."
They are two different families who can identify in the worst of ways.
Police have not made any arrests.
