Shoreview Man Gets 10 Years For Sexual Assaults
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A Shoreview man convicted of sexually assaulting drunk women he met at Minneapolis bars has been sentenced to 10 years in jail.
Maksud Mahbub, 36, was convicted by a Ramsey County jury on March 9 for one count of third-degree criminal sexual conduct and three counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct.
"This defendant was convicted of heinous, predatory acts of sexual misconduct. In a very calculating way, he targeted vulnerable women under the guise of offering them help, and then sexually abused them. Our office is pleased that he received an appropriate prison sentence," said County Attorney John Choi.
According to police, Mahbub sexually assaulted four women after meeting them at bars and offering them a ride home. Each time, instead of taking them home, he would take them back to his home, according to the criminal complaint.
The incidents occurred in 2008 and 2009.
Mahbub claimed any sexual contact was consensual.
