Shoreview Homicide Victim Identified
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A man who was found dead, lying in the parking lot of a business in Shoreview, has been identified.
Authorities were called to the business on the 5700 block of Hamline Avenue in Shoreview around 6:40 a.m. on Aug. 29. Upon arrival, they found a man who was already deceased.
He has been identified as 26-year-old Hagos Tsegay Melake, of South St. Paul.
The Ramsey County Medical Examiner said Melake died of a gunshot wound.
Investigators say Melake was last seen leaving the Hunan Garden Restaurant on Cedar Street in downtown St. Paul, around 1:30 a.m. on Aug. 29. One of his credit cards was then used an ATM at a U.S. Bank building on West Broadway in Minneapolis around 4:30 a.m.
A woman was photographed using the card and police say she is a person of interest in this case.
If anyone had contact with Melake on the night of Wednesday, Aug. 28, they're asked to call police at (651) 266-7320.
Anyone who can identify the woman shown in the ATM surveillance photos is also asked to call police at the same number.
Information leading to the arrest and conviction of Melake's murder is eligible for a reward through the Minnesota Crime Stoppers program.
