Shoppers Gearing Up Early For Black Friday
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Thanksgiving is coming earlier this year and so are the Black Friday deals. Some stores are opening up Thanksgiving night for eager shoppers.
But we found a number of them have already offering up their big bargains. Best Buy has been offering customers online discounts since Monday. The struggling company has is hoping for a very successful holiday season to help start turning things around.
It has a strategic plan to get people to buy, which includes matching online prices to be even more competitive. Best Buy opens at midnight on thanksgiving.
"We're not going to let anybody use us as any kind of showroom. We're going to be the place where people come in and buy and make sure they get those prices," said a Best Buy employee.
Meanwhile, shoppers at Toys 'R' Us were able to get deals in the store a full week before Black Friday. It's also opening early at 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving night.
The toy giant says it's because consumers want bargains earlier than ever. The first 200 shoppers at each store will get a goody bag filled with $30 worth of toys.
As for Target, you'll have to wait till Thursday for Black Friday bargains. Stores will be opening at 9 p.m. One of the best deals is the Xbox-Kinect bundle. It normally sells for $300, but you'll be able to get it for $200.
There are certain items that you should pounce on right away, but others can wait.
Shopping experts say if you're looking to buy popular toys or luxury items like watches or handbags, the time is now because prices tend to go up the closer it gets to the holidays because stores start to run out of the items.
But for things like small kitchen appliances or laptops, it's better to wait.
