Neighbors React To Fatal Early-Morning Shooting In Bloomington
BLOOMINGTON, Minn. (WCCO) -- An early-morning party in Bloomington ended in a deadly shooting Sunday.
Several hours after the shooting, perimeter tape was still up around a house off West 86th Street and Penn Avenue. There was a gathering there into early Sunday morning.
As far as what happened that morning, those details are still being pieced together.
"It kind of shocked me, you know," neighbor Samon Chrouk said.
Chrouk's family woke up to a fleet of police cars lining Penn Avenue.
"My wife heard the gun shoot like four times, boom boom boom," Chrouk said.
The preliminary investigation says it was a house party gone wrong. When police arrived, they saw several people leaving the house and took two men with gunshot wounds to the hospital. A 21-year-old Eagan man survived, but a 21-year-old from Minneapolis did not.
"It doesn't make me reassess anything. It's a rental house and I don't know who's there. I don't know who evens owns that anymore," neighbor Trish Vossen said.
The property owner confirmed his new tenant moved in Oct. 1. Neighbors WCCO talked to don't know who lives there, but say there was a different party at the house the night before the shooting.
"And last night [there was a] night party again and I said, 'Mm, what's going on?'" Chrouk said.
While they wait for more information, neighbors here have mixed feelings.
"It's a little scary, but it doesn't make me afraid of being where I am," Vossen said.
"We are parents. We really care about their safety. It's the first priority," Chrouk said.
There have been no arrests in the case. Anyone with information about the incident is urged to call the Bloomington Police Department at 952-563-4900.
