Sheriff: St. Louis Co. Man Killed In ATV Accident
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 54-year-old man was killed Friday night in an ATV accident in St. Louis County.
The sheriff's office says deputies responded to the 3400 block of Mobraten Drive in Clinton Township just after 9 p.m., where 53-year-old Frank Kalata had apparently lost control of his ATV and rolled it.
Kalata, from Iron, was not wearing a helmet and suffered severe head trauma. He was airlifted to Essentia-St. Mary's Hospital in Duluth, but was later pronounced dead.
The accident is under investigation, although the sheriff's office says Kalata was likely an inexperienced driver who was speeding. Alcohol may have also played a factor in the accident.
