Shabazz Muhammad Hoping To Step Up Role With Timberwolves
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Timberwolves are spending this season trying to figure out what they have to work with in the future. What they want off the bench is for Shabazz Muhammad to be a factor, every night.
Right now, Muhammad is trying to understand that role with the team.
"There's lots of opportunity," he said. "They've really tried to increase my minutes, so that's something that I've really been pleased with, and I really know I got to go out there and play hard every mintue."
That means to think aggressively -- all the time.
"I've been really working on my body, and it's really gotten stronger, and I think that's really helped me out a lot with my strength and attacking the basket," Muhammad said.
His coach is all in favor of it, except he wants to see a little more on the other end.
"He's scoring the ball for us, but now he has to take on more responsibility defensively," coach Sam Mitchell said. "We want Bazz to be a complete player."
"He told me he wants me to be the defensive stopper on the team," Muhammad said. "I'm definitely looking at the court more, and I want to be that versatile player."
