Sentencing Of Ga. Soldier To Resume In Late June
FORT STEWART, Ga. (AP) -- An Army sergeant convicted of murder is scheduled to return to a Fort Stewart courtroom in late June for the sentencing phase of his trial to resume.
A military judge delayed the court-martial of Sgt. Joseph Bozicevich for several weeks after the soldier's lead defense attorney suffered injuries in a skydiving accident during a break over the Memorial Day weekend.
Fort Stewart spokesman Kevin Larson said Monday that the trial is set to resume June 27.
A military jury on May 25 convicted Bozicevich of murder in the 2008 slayings of Staff Sgt. Darris Dawson and Sgt. Wesley Durbin while their infantry unit was deployed to Iraq.
The jury still must choose whether to sentence Bozicevich to life prison with or without the possibility of parole.
