Senator Offers Apology For Tweet
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- A Minnesota senator has offered an apology for her tweet during heated debate on health care funding and has removed her original Twitter account.
The Senate Subcommittee on Ethical Conduct directed Sen. Gretchen Hoffman to take those steps to avoid further action on ethics charges.
Last month, the Republican freshman tweeted about a Democratic senator's remarks during debate on mental health funding. Senator Barb Goodwin accused Hoffman of taking her remarks about mental illness out of context. A complaint was filed against Hoffman which accused her of knowingly publishing a false statement about Goodwin.
The Duluth News Tribune says Hoffman wrote a letter of apology to Goodwin.
