Sen. Jungbauer Hit By Car While Jogging
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A Minnesota Senator was hit by a car while out for a morning jog Wednesday.
Sen. Michael Jungbauer was hit near the capitol in St. Paul around 8:45 a.m.
He hit the back of his head on the ground and was taken to Regions Hospital where he was listed in fair condition Wednesday evening. A hospital spokesperson said Jungbauer will stay overnight at the hospital for observation.
The driver of the vehicle stopped and helped Jungbauer, who was reported as being alert and awake on the scene.
St. Paul Police are checking for more detail from the accident report, but said that the driver was cited for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.
Jungbauer is a republican senator for District 48 and from East Bethel, Minn. He is serving his third term in the state Senate.
