Seimone Augustus Talks London 2012 Olympics
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Seimone Augustus was asked to be the superstar of the 13-2 Lynx, the WNBA reigning champions, and now she's asked to be one of the superstars on the 2012 Olympic team.
"It feels good to know that I don't have as much pressure on me, and I can facilitate things more if I have to," she said. "But I'm more than happy to step up and help my team win."
You can sense there's more to Augustus than the athlete on game nights where she is all calculated business.
"You wouldn't think that she'd be such a caring, nurturing person, but she is," said teammate Candice Wiggins. "It's all about her upbringing. She treats basketball like a sisterhood because she didn't have siblings growing up."
Very soon her basketball attention will shift from the Lynx to the Olympics.
Until then, she will enjoy this run as a member of a team in the Lynx that has learned to win and learned to enjoy the process.
"We just have a lot of fun together," Augustus said. "On and off the court. Yesterday we had a great team dinner."
