Seasonal Businesses Spring Into Action
ST. PAUL, MINN. (WCCO) - For people who love two wheels, this is perfect riding weather. Warm temperatures brought many out Saturday to St. Paul's Harley Davidson Store, including Harley-owner John Fischer.
"You can see how busy it gets here at the Harley dealership when the weather gets nice – everybody's got to get the bikes out," Fischer said. "You got to buy all the new Harley gear like new glasses and new boots, then hit the road and show it off."
It's like a reunion of sorts. Many bikers re-connect with friends after a long and harsh winter.
St. Paul Harley Davidson owner Tom Gianneti also had a tough winter, profit-wise. But now that the sun is out, hopefully that will change
"We've all been pretty anxious," Gianneti said. "I've got to believe we had a good day."
Midwest Mountaineering owner Rob Johnson was also happy to see spring finally arrive.
"I think there's a lot of pent-up energy of people wanting to get outdoors, especially because of all the snow and the long winter," Johnson said.
His Outdoor Adventure Expo attracts thousands who are tired of being confined to their homes because of cold weather, and are looking for gear so they can enjoy the outdoors.
"The canoes and kayaks - that's our number one and camping's number two," he said.
Merchandise is flying off the shelves inside Midwest Mountaineering, all thanks to Mother Nature and her gift of spring.
The Outdoor Adventure Expo at Midwest Mountaineering ends Sunday at 5 p.m.
And according to Tom Giannetti, his Harley stores in St. Paul and Eden Prairie did well Saturday.
