Search For Drugs Ends With Officer-Involved Shooting
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A search for drugs inside a New Brighton home Tuesday afternoon ended with a task force member shooting a suspect multiple times.
The Ramsey County Sheriff's Office said a narcotics search warrant was executed at about 2 p.m. in a home on the 1500 block of 20th Avenue Northwest.
During the search, a struggle ensued between the suspect, who is the sole occupant of the home, and a member of the Ramsey County Violent Crime Enforcement Team. When the struggle was over, the suspect had suffered gunshot wounds for which he needed surgery.
The suspect is currently in stable condition at the Hennepin County Medical Center. He has not been named.
The shooting is now under investigation by the Bureau Criminal Apprehension, which is standard procedure.
The officer involved in the shooting has also not been named.
