We have been having some crazy winter. Friday's downpour was a surprise. It's been keeping ice fishermen and women on their toes. We went out with an expert Rapala guide Friday to catch a few fish and learn when it's safe to be on the ice.
Nearly 20 mummies from ancient Peru and Egypt are now part of a stunning new exhibition at the Science Museum of Minnesota. It's called "Mummies: Secrets from the Tombs." You'll learn how modern technology has revealed intricate details about the lives and customs of those ancient people. St. Paul is one of only four cities on the exclusive tour.
If you love eating from food trucks in Minnesota, there are two women who you should probably thank. Lisa Carlson and Carrie Summer are the godmothers of the food truck movement. But that's not their only legacy. Now they're trying to help women chefs break out. Jason DeRusha profiled their Chef Shack Ranch in Minneapolis for DeRusha Eats. It's open Saturday and Sunday for brunch from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Lisa and Carrie will compete Sunday night in the Cochon 555 competition -- facing off against four other teams. They'll be the only all-female team, trying to impress a field of judges with pork dishes made from a heritage hog.
It's being described as the ultimate snowmobiling challenge: Red Bull Snow Boundaries. The first-of-its-kind race is endurance-based and a mix of snow cross and cross-country racing. More than 200 racers will be in Minnesota for the competition. The event is Saturday at ERX Motor Park in Elk River. Racing begins at 2 p.m. and there is an after party at Rockwoods Bar & Grill at 6 p.m. The best part -- it's free for spectators!
Whether you're building a new home or improving the one you have, there's something for everyone at the 37th annual Home and Patio Show. Hundreds of home improvement companies will be there featuring their products and services. There are also workshops, seminars and celebrity speakers. The show is from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. It's at the St. Paul RiverCentre. Tickets are $9 for adults and $2.50 for kids age 6 to 12.
