Runners Embraced Rain At 37th Grandma's Marathon
DULUTH, Minn. (WCCO) - It was a wet start at the 37th annual Grandma's Marathon in Two Harbors Saturday.
The full marathon took 57,000 runners down the 26.2-mile course from Two Harbors to Duluth.
Kenya's Sarah Kiptoo broke the 10-year-old womens' course record in her Grandma's marathon debut by finishing in 2 hours and 26 minutes - her personal best.
Bazu Warku won the men's championship in 2 hours and 11 minutes, the fifth fastest in race history.
In the USA Half Marathon, Mohamed Trafeh crossed the finish line this morning in 1 hour, 1 minute and 17 seconds - beating the previous record by more than a minute. Thirty-three-year-old Adriana Nelson of Boulder, Colo. won the women's half marathon with a time of 1 hour and 11 minutes.
