Trevino Trial Day 2: Roommate & 15-Year-Old Daughter Testify
ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) -- Friday brought more emotional testimony during the murder trial of Jeffrey Trevino.
The St. Paul man is accused of killing his wife, Kira Steger last winter. Her body was found in May.
Most of the testimony came from Steger's close friends, all of whom stated that they heard Steger mention relationship problems leading up to her disappearance.
"She said she wasn't sure she wanted to be married to Jeff anymore," friend Michelle Stecker said.
One of the key witnesses was the roommate of Steger and Trevino.
He said he thought he remembered them watching a movie together the night of her disappearance. He did say he didn't hear of any struggle upstairs that night, as he lived in the basement of the couple's home.
Trevino's 15-year-old daughter Taylor Skipton took the stand, too.
"Me and (Kira) were real close. We got along real well," Skipton said.
Skipton added that when she came to the house a day after Steger vanished, her dad had bought a long list of cleaning supplies.
And the tow truck driver, who was the first one to arrive at Steger's abandoned car, said he found a bloody mat under the vehicle, a mat that had previously been inside the car.
The Trevino family said they will talk about this "on their own time."
The trial is expected to last multiple weeks.
